Learn2Serve Liquors and TV Shows

Our work can be taxing and at the end of the day, we just want to retire to our rooms, plop a pillow behind our back and sit and watch our favorite TV shows. It’s even more awesome if we have a good brew to go along with it. But sometimes the usual Heineken can be a bit bland, not to mention, a little weak for our taste. Found below are some of our suggested alcohol companions to your TV marathon night with friends or your significant other:

Having Breaking Bad withdrawal or separation anxiety from Walter White and the gang? We all know misery loves company, so gather up the troops and take it to drinking. We recommend keeping to clear liquors (champagne or vodka would be nice) while going on an intensive and butt-numbing Breaking Bad recap—also, in memory of the clear, poisoned (no pun intended) liquor drank by the Mexican drug cartel in episode Salud (season finale for Season 4). Or go for reds or a bottle of Bordeaux which W.W. drank like water in the episode where he suggested to Hank that nerdy meth cook Gale Boetticher was not the great Heisenberg.

True Blood ended a season ago with a cliff-hanger—Erik (Aleksandr Sarsgaard), True Blood’s  dreamy vampire scorching under the heat of the sun. As tempting it is to suggest a Bloody Mary or Manhattan as a nod to the show, or some good old brew due to the fact that the show is set in the South (Louisiana), we’d recommend something stronger, like a tequila-infused drink since most of the characters seem to find tequila as their go-to drink in times of supernatural emergencies. Try this grapefruit jalapeno tequila infused cocktail from 100 Layer Cake.

Judging by their characters, our 2 Broke Girls Max and Caroline are probably mojito or lager beer kind of girls. We’ve always associated sass with fun cocktails like mojito and darker beers and these two are definitely perfect choices for the two. Max and Caroline are strong, feisty, witty and overflowing confidence, and wouldn’t mind a few calories in their drink or putting on some “more to love” weight. Try this recipe from AllRecipes.com, and while you’re at it, allow yourself some hefty helpings of nachos, croquettas or picadillos ala Habanera. Yum!

Fans of the BBC original series Sherlock have something to celebrate about as the show returns this October. Welcome the new season of Sherlock with something stronger, like the scotch-whiskey Sherlock nursed when he was fraught with fear in Hounds of the Baskervilles. Take your whiskey neat, or if you prefer something more palatable to your taste (drinking whiskey is an acquired taste after all), Bon Appetit has a collection of whiskey cocktail recipes that you might want to try.
